Earlier this week, Cisco announced that shopping revolution start up Shopitize had been selected as one of twenty semi-finalists for its British Innovation Gateway (BIG) Awards.
One of the world’s leading IT analysts, Robin Bloor, now believes that the London-based firm will go all the way to the final and perhaps become the outright winner.
The BIG Awards have been set up by Cisco to attract high-potential technology start-ups seeking investment and support to accelerate their development. For the successful finalists, there’ll be access to the full array of Cisco capabilities from technology to business development, plus potential investment and partnering opportunities in the future.
Robin Bloor, chief analyst and co-founder of The Bloor Group and founder of Bloor Research, comments: "It does not surprise me that Shopitize has been shortlisted for this award. It's good to see the emergence of consumer-oriented smartphone apps and services.
“Consumers need to be able to leverage the power of social media, mobile computing and the Internet for their own benefit. If businesses can profitably analyze their purchasing activity, then why not consumers?”
He adds: “Shopitize offers an intelligent way to build a bridge been consumer spending patterns and the companies they choose to do business with.”
Bloor is a leading IT authority and influencer. In his role as an industry analyst, he has become an influential commentator on many corporate IT issues and is in great demand as a presenter at conferences, user groups and seminars addressing audiences across the world on a variety of technology topics from eCommerce through to IT Strategy and trends.
Bloor’s published works include Words You Don’t Know and The Electronic Bazaar. He has also co-authored other books including Service Oriented Architecture for Dummies, Service Management for Dummies and Cloud Computing for Dummies.
Alexey Andriyanenko, co-founder and director, states: “Clearly, Shopitize is delighted that one of the world’s leading analysts and influencers gives this ringing endorsement of our unique and disruptive web technology and apps. Robin Bloor’s comments on the need for consumers to have the tools to be able to analyze their purchasing activity underline the sweeping changes now running through the world of shopping.”
